Time to ramp up the fight against corruption
An anti-corruption agenda for the 2024 government
A slew of scandals over the last few years, including PPE contracts, the Post Office Horizon case, and wrongdoings in Parliament have badly shaken public confidence.
Our polling report in early 2024 found that 66% of voters believe UK politics is becoming more corrupt, while 80% believed some or all of the main political parties are corrupt and untrustworthy.
The new government has a unique opportunity to reverse these downward trends: to tackle illicit finance, promote integrity in politics, and rebuild trust in our institutions and democracy. Bold action will be needed to ensure a sea change.
As a coalition of leading anti-corruption organisations, we call on the new government to start working cross-party and prioritise delivering its anti-corruption commitments.
And we stand ready to support however we can.
