Briefing on the UK Global Anti-Corruption Sanctions Regime

In April 2021, the UK Government introduced corruption as a standalone ground for sanctions, creating a Global Anti-Corruption Sanctions Regime to stand alongside the Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime which was launched in July 2020.

In this briefing, we outline what an effective corruption sanctions regime could achieve, what kind of corruption should be targeted, and make recommendations for how the regime can be most effective.
